I
1. The competition will be held in Vilnius: for pianists – September 15 – 23, 2011 for organists – September 13 – 23, 2011.
2. The competition is open to pianists and organists from all countries: pianists born not earlier than January 1, 1981; organists born not earlier than January 1, 1976.
The competition is not open to previous 1st prize winners of this competition.
II
1. Entries must be submitted by post or e-mail to the Secretariat at the following address:

2. Entries must be submitted by May 31, 2011 and accompanied by:
a) a copy of birth certificate or passport; b) a brief creative biography; c) copies of documents pertaining to music studies, specifying the names of instructors; d) copies of diplomas awarded at international music competitions; e) two photographs (black and white, 12x9); f) exact programmes for each of the three competition rounds; g) a copy of payment of EUR 60 enrolment fee.

III
1. On June 1, 2011, all the entries received will be forwarded for consideration to the commission comprised of The Management of the Competition.
2. Applicants will be informed about the status of their applications by June 15, 2011. Notice of rejection will be accompanied by an enrolment fee refund (bank transfer fees deducted).
Note: The enrolment fee will not be refunded to competitors who fail to arrive at the competition.
IV
1. The jury of the International M.K. ÄŒiurlionis Piano and Organ Competition will award 12 prizes as follows:
to pianists: 3 prizes for laureates and 3 prizes for diploma holders; to organists: 3 prizes for laureates and 3 prizes for diploma holders.
Laureates: I prize EUR 10 000 II prize EUR 6 000 III prize EUR 3 000 Diploma holders: EUR 1000 each
2. The jury of the competition will also award two special prizes:
to pianists – EUR 1000 for the best performance of M.K. ÄŒiurlionis’ cycle in the 2nd round and M. K. ÄŒiurlionis’ Fugue in B flat minor, VL345;
to organists – EUR 1000 for the best performance of M.K. ÄŒiurlionis’ pieces.

1. Roundtrip travel to Vilnius is the responsibility of each competitor. 2. Accommodation and board during the first round are the responsibility of each competitor. 3. The Management of the Competition provide competitors who get to the second and final rounds with accommodation (not exceeding EUR 35 per day) and board free of charge until the end of the competition. 4. The organizing committee will provide organists with assistants and rehearsal facilities. 5. Competitors may familiarize themselves with sheet music by Lithuanian composers proposed for the competition and organ dispositions at www.ipmc.lt. 6. Competitors must register with the Secretariat in person: pianists – on September 15, 2011; organists – on September 13, 2011;

1. The competition will be held in three stages: a) 1st Round, b) 2nd Round, c) Final (with orchestra for pianists).
All stages are open to the public.
2. Competitors will draw lots to determine their order of appearance, separate for pianists and organists, this order remains unaltered until the end of the competition. 3. Pianists are to perform their music programme from memory. 4. Competitors may choose the order of their programme in each round. 5. The jury has the right to terminate a performance which is not of a sufficiently professional standard. 6. 2nd Round is limited to no more than half of the number of pianists competing in 1st Round, and to no more than 12 organists who get the highest marks in 1st Round. 7. The Final is limited to no more than 6 pianists and 6 organists who get the highest marks in 2nd Round. 8. Decisions of the jury are final and not subject to appeal.
VII
1. Competition laureates, diploma holders and winners of the special prize are obliged to take part in the final concerts of the competition without remuneration. 2. The Management of the Competition reserve the right to permit all competition performances and final concerts to be broadcast over radio and television, and to be produced as audio, video, film, CD, tape cassette, and vinyl recordings without remuneration to the competitors. 3. The jury has the right to award no more than 3 laureates and 3 diploma holders. The 1st prize is not divisible. In the event that a higher level prize is not awarded, the jury has the right to award additional lower level prizes, totalling no more than 3 laureate and 3 diploma prizes. 4. In the event of any discrepancies, the Lithuanian text shall prevail. 5. The next International M.K. ÄŒiurlionis Piano and Organ Competition is planned for 2015.
